Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now...Yawata-uma?

It's the 1st of December so we can officially say the festive season is upon us, and what better way to welcome it in than by giving away Aomori's own answer to Santa's reindeer - the Yawata-uma! These 'Hachinohe horses' traditionally come in pairs are said to bring good luck at weddings and house warmings.
Even more reason to celebrate, given the Samurai Blue's astonishing World Cup run as Japanese fans once again personified the meaning of 'KIREIZUKI' or 'neat freak' by tidying up the litter from the stadiums, after the match.

Otherwise, this month, we're bringing a round up of where to brunch in Tokyo, a Beginner's Guide to Christmas in Japan, and our Postcards from Japan, while we ponder this month's theme of 'FUYUGOMORI'.

So, any winter plans?
Yes, 'FUYUGOMORI'! ☃️

Add ‘GOMORI’ to the end of ‘FUYU’, or ‘winter’ in Japanese, and we have a word with two meanings: ‘winter hibernation’ or ‘staying indoors during winter’...you know, when it’s too cold to even think about bracing that harsh winter bite outside!

We’ve all been there, and for those lucky enough to have a toasty Japanese ‘kotatsu’ table at the ready, a winter solely spent curled up under blankets and sleeping sounds like a pretty tempting plan of action.

However, with the ‘fuyugomori’ season comes also the perfect chance for some indoor activities such as having a Japanese ‘nabe’ hotpot party 🍲 or getting cracking with your Christmas shopping…🎅🎄🛍️ Eh, there's still time for that one!

Our 'Postcards from Japan' guests sure know how to spend their winters in style...

Here's some of what we learnt this month:
1) Doing new things will spark someone's bravery to do the same 🎤✨
2) Having a flexible travel itinerary can lead to great, serendipitous experiences 🚅📸
