October has had us on to the edge of our seats with the constant weather roulette, but heralded in a brighter outlook on travel with the scrapping of amber from the traffic light system.

Meanwhile, things in Japan have never been better, with marvellous autumn colours spreading across the country, Japan's travel prize haul (more information below!), and the announcement of a partnership we all needed between Universal Studios Japan and Pokémon!

Let’s take a look at what else is going on with Japan right now, plan your Japan visit for later, and explore our Postcards from Japan on October's energising theme of SHINRINYOKU.

Getting back to basics
When the dark and chilly mornings start bringing you down, try the favourite Japanese remedy for the autumn blues - SHINRINYOKU 森林浴, 'forest bathing'!

Simply take a walk in a nearby forest and stay present, consciously taking in your surroundings. It has been proven that the combination of mindfulness and ‘phytoncides’ given off by plants and trees helps with stress, anger, anxiety, depression, and sleeplessness, and there is no better time for it than autumn when you can admire the changing seasons!

Fun fact: there are currently 60 officially accredited forest bathing spots which you can visit across the country!
This month we had a chat with our friends in Japan about what helps them hit their Zen stride.

Here are a couple of things we learnt along the way:
1) Inamuragasaki Cape is the top pick for gorgeous sunsets with a view of Mr. Fuji 🗻
2) Exploring Japan's great outdoors will turn you into a full-on nature nut! 🌰
3) No trip is complete without an Izakaya visit! Japanese pub grub? Yes, please! 🍤
