Another round?

The Summer Olympics may have given us a bittersweet reminder of all we miss about Japan, but with the Paralympic games just round the corner, we were never going to go hungry for long!

While summer felt a little stop/start here in the UK, it was all guns blazing in Japan, with a ramen-themed hotel landing in Sapporo and the rice fields of Saitama coming alive with art.

Let’s take a look at what else is going on with Japan right now, plan your Japan visit for later, and check out our Postcards from Japan on August's tongue twister of a theme TSUTOMUREBA KANARAZU TASSU.

When you strive, you surely will achieve...
This summer we've witnessed some incredible feats of physical endurance in Tokyo - but let's add one more to the list!

TSUTOMUREBA KANARAZU TASSU 力必達 deserves a gold medal for fitting such a long phrase into so few characters. With 'kanji' that read 'effort' 'without exception' 'achieves', this mantra feels a touch more powerful than good old 'red lorry yellow lorry'...

Born out of the fierce dedication seen in the Judo halls of Japan, it's thought that by repeating the phrase, you'll imbue yourself with the energy to accomplish whatever you set your mind to.
That's why this month we talked to our friends in Japan about what gives them their drive!

Here are a couple of things we learnt along the way:
1) Accessible diving is very much a possibility on the sunny isles of Okinawa 🤿
2) The forests of Mt Mitoku and Mt Daisen in Tottori are sacred and untouched 🌲
3) There's nothing quite like Family Mart's signature fried chicken 🍗

Read on below for more

That’s it from us for this month!
