You know what you just can't beat?
It's that special kind of feeling you get seeing dappled sunlight magically filtering through the lush leaves of a forest canopy.
And Japan has a word for that - KOMOREBI 木漏れ日 - made up of the words for tree ('ko'), filtered ('more') and sunlight ('bi').

In September, things in the UK were looking uncertain with summer drawing to a close and people bracing themselves for another lockdown on the horizon.

But in times like these, Japanese people look for their own personal KOMOREBI - the realisations of what they're grateful for, like the dappled sunlight that's made all the more beautiful when filtered through leaves.
Here are what our friends in Japan thought, and th
ings we learnt along the way:

1) According to Osakans, sunny Kagoshima isn't Japan; it's a different country! 🏖️

2) If Tokyo has Kabukicho, then Sendai has Kokubuncho - for sushi, sake and karaoke 🎤
