Plan Now, Travel Later!

How is that bucket list looking?
While ours is growing by the second, we've assembled some news on what's happening now in Japan, some pointers for the Japan itinerary you're thinking about for later, as well as our Postcards from Japan, where we get to know some UK pals living in Japan, and get inspired by August’s word of the month, the enlightment concept of IKIGAI.

What is 'happiness'?
Japan may have the answer in its mysterious lifestyle concept of IKIGAI // 生き甲斐.
In August, many of us were taking a good hard look at the road ahead and asking what it is that's keeping us going.
IKIGAI is made up of the words 'living' and 'value' and is often paraphrased as 'what gets you up in the morning'.

Consensus in Japan says that it exists where your passions, your skills, your bank balance and your social contributions come together, but we wanted to know more and asked some friends of Visit Japan their thoughts.

Things we learned in the process:

1) Leaving your travel plans to random Japanese grandmas can be recommended 👍

2) Tohoku is home to The Valley of the Winds, that swarms with blossoms in spring 🌸

3) 'Doing Kyoto' doesn't have to mean getting up at 6am to battle through selfie sticks ⛩️
